As the Director and Founder of Growing Examples, Inc. Joe Ovelman has increased awareness of restorative justice and restorative practices in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Increasing public safety, the Growing Examples Model helps to save the lives of individuals and communities, while decreasing costs of recidivism. The successful GE Conflict Resolution program is developed for middle school-aged youth, and  is available via contact page on the GE website: Growing Examples: Restorative Justice & Reentry.

Joe Ovelman’s work continues to reflect cultural and societal norms and constructs. After receiving his Masters from the University of Pennsylvania, he taught paroled youth enrolled in the Mural Arts Program of Philadelphia’s own restorative justice program. Now, as a professor of Art and Child Development, Ovelman provides an art production and art theory overview course to a wide range of community college students, with an emphasis on studio practice. Ongoing GE program development includes training for educators.
